I'm still unable to post or read much. Here is a little something that has been 34 years in the making. From the original concept when fine thread, fine hooks and fine linen were simply unavailable in the Antipodes, the idea remained in the back of my mind and occasionally surfaced for contemplation. Recent enforced inactivity brought forth a linen doiley with silk crocheted edging, shown here with Pei Li's peonies.
More in the pipeline, as yet not photographed.
That is very pretty. I can't imagine how you do it! You must use big magnifier glasses. It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow it looks fabulous Susan, so intricately detailed!
ReplyDeleteI just recently acquired a #12 crochet hook that I don't know if I can ever be able to use. I use a #10 regularly, but this #12 even seems a little smaller than usual. Which size are you using, please if I might ask?

Gorgeous! I always love your work, but this is just spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see you post again! Love the crochet work, you did a beautiful job of that.

One word - beautiful. Hope you are okay?
ReplyDeleteIt's exquisite!! So fine, and attached perfectly - beautifully made!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks all for lovely comments, so much appreciated. Sorry to be brief, I can't sit for long.
ReplyDelete¡Increible! Has usado un hilo muy fino. El conjunto en la mesa con las flores está muy elegante.

I hope you are getting well soon, Susan. Your little doiley is so sweet. I actually also made some about 20 years ago (where did it go?), and I remember the feeling of knitting with sewing thread, it is sooo thin and your fingers feels sooo big ;-0)
ReplyDeleteLove, Susanne
Susan- it's astounding! Very beautiful and I bet even more amazing in person♥
ReplyDeleteIt's just fabulous Susan :)
ReplyDeleteparece cosa de magia que puedan conseguir hacer un punto tan pequeño, se ve maravilloso.
ReplyDeleteun abrazo

After 35 years making miniature crochet sewing machine thread feels like rope Susanne :)
ReplyDeleteLainie, I can't at the moment search for information about your hook sizes but the hook I used with YLI 100 Silk thread to make this doiley is 0.3mm.
Yes, I do use some magnification with this weight thread but not for regular sewing machine thread which is more than twice as thick.
Simply exquisite - delighted to be following such a talented artisan! x
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteYou make the most realistic beautiful lace doiley. I'm totally in awe!
Pei Li
The most beautiful, and fine miniature lace doily I've ever seen.
