Some school holiday fun with two grandies
aged 5 and 10.
Mine is the boring one.
They had help with cutting
and a little help with sanding.
The older one did all his own gluing
and painting,
the little one was happy to have some help
but both chose their own colours.
The hardest part was making the hitches
and drilling the holes to insert the wires.
I should know a lot about ipods
and building websites
after listening to the kids prattle on
for some hours
but I'm very computer challenged ;)
It goes in one ear and straight out the other!
I'll leave the smart stuff to the younger generation
and stick with what I know...
Very cute! Great work, as usual!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber Dawn, the kids will be delighted with your sweet comment!
DeleteQue lindos quedaron y lo mas importante es que ellos participaron!!
ReplyDeleteSaludos!!
Hi Beatriz, lovely of you to visit and leave such an encouraging comment for the boys!
DeleteVery cute little trains. What a patient Grandma! Well done.
ReplyDeleteRegards Janine
Imagine it is very hot!
Heheh Janine, patience is often worn thin but the look on the kids faces is worth the angst! Tis hot here but not as hot as many other parts of Oz at the moment, counting blessings and making use of air-conditioner.
DeleteAw Susan, you all have made so lovely small trains, you can be proud of your grandchildren. Great idea and job!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Ilona
Thankyou for taking time to visit and leave a sweet comment for my boys, they'll be so happy when they read!!
DeleteAwww your trains are so adorable! Sounds like your grandkids are too!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Mins xx
Hi Mins, thanks for visiting! The kids love messing with my tools and I love to see their faces when they complete a project, after which I crawl into a hole for a couple of days R&R ;)
DeleteHow nice to be able to spend time with your
ReplyDeletegrand children working on miniatures. You can be proud of the results. Great toy trains!
Hugs, Drora
Hi Drora, thankyou so much for your sweet comment. It's lovely seeing kids learn new skills and knowing they will have that for the rest of their lives.
DeleteTime well spent together. Great job grands.
ReplyDeleteHi Lady Jane, thanks for taking time to peek and comment! Bloggers are lovely people!!
Deletethose are very cute, dont worry I am not that computer literate either the only way I get things done is when my neice comes over and helps me.

Marisa
Hi Marisa, so lovely of you to visit and leave a nice comment, the grandkids are going to be thrilled when they read!
DeleteOh these trains are so pretty! I was thinking that I would buy a minitrain for my childrensroom in my dollhouse, but after seing these maybe I should give it a try to build one myself =) thank you for your inspiration =)
ReplyDeleteAnna- annasminiatures.blogspot.com
Hi Anna, of course you could make a train for your mini children! They're cheap to buy but not as personal. I used simple jigs in a mitre box to cut the pieces with a razor saw. 36 wheels from 1/8th" dowel plus spares because I knew we'd lose some ;)
DeleteHan quedado muy lindos, el trabajo de tus "ayudantes" ha sido muy bueno. ¡felicidades! Un beso
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Maria!! The children love your comment.
DeleteHi Susan!
ReplyDeleteThe tiny trains are soooo cute :-)
Hugs, Lina
Hi Lina :) Thanks for looking! The kids are so happy to read the comments!
DeleteSo tiny and so fabulous...
ReplyDeleteBye Faby
Hi Faby, thanks for commenting! It makes the children enthusiastic when they read comments.
DeleteWe've just seen the map of the most at risk fire areas in NSW. Stay safe, Susan.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! Thanks for dropping in. How are you managing with the heat? Half of Australia seems to be burning..... heartbreak. All safe round here, spot fires quickly dealt with by the wonderful, ever vigilant fire-services. Keep in touch mate, often think of you.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute, well done to you and your little grandies! There must have been a lot of patients involved for all concerned.
ML Fi xx
Hi Fi, very sweet of you to drop by! Working with the kids teaches them the time and effort that goes into creating tiny things so they appreciate them! It's also educational to listen to them prattle ;)
DeleteUnos fantasticos ayudantes, habeis hecho unos preciosos trabajos.
ReplyDeletebesitos ascension
Hi Ascension, Happy New Year! Thankyou for visiting and your sweet comment about the boys work :)
ReplyDeleteHello Susan I've been really enjoying your sense of humor and fun! Your grandchildren must really look forward to their visits with you as you no doubt do with them. To have a project for them to do shows some insight and allows them to interact with you and not just an I pod. The trains are really cute and very well painted and something all 3 of you can be proud of! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
You've got it Elizabeth, I try to do something with the younger grandkids during school holidays to give them some hands on creative activity. It's loads of fun and the time spent and skills learned will stay with the children for life. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment :)
ReplyDeleteHan quedado preciosos, y lo mas bonito: la participación de tan estupendos ayudantes. enhorabuena!!!
ReplyDeleteBesos
Hi Carmen, thanks so much for looking at the grandkids trains and for your sweet comment!!
DeleteThey had a ball, mumma bear. Me too.
ReplyDeleteLove from
Your darling daughter xx
Yep, it's fun helping the kidlets learn new skills and letting them talk! Hug, ma.
DeleteWow fantastic trains! Mini talents run in the family, are your training them up for future mini projects lol ;) giving my ideas for my little grandson <<<rubs hands together lol! x
ReplyDeleteHaha, yep, training the next generation to keep up the miniatures hobby! 4 grandsons means I get plenty of hands on boy miniatures. Girly stuff on the other hand I do alone. Just as well I like the more robust projects :)
