The pink tea cosy said it wanted a matching pot holder too.
With a matchstick for size.
A bit closer.
My question is this....
Would you pay for one of my cosies?
And perhaps a potholder???
I've never really sold much of my crochet.
I enjoy giving gifts so most of my work
is given away,
however, from time to time I'm asked do I sell.
Should I open an etsy shop?
What do you think??
You know my answer already - it doesn't cost anything to open it and I for one would purchase :) you can have a few items on or a lot of items on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement Laura. Pricing will be my biggest challenge I think, I'm not good at asking!
DeleteSusan, I most certainly would buy a set. They are beautifully made and not everyone can crochet. If selling your items is something you want to do go for it. Only do what you enjoy though. I am not in a position to buy at the moment with my husband losing his job but I would definitely buy a set in the future when circumstances change.
ReplyDeleteSharee, your comment has made me smile, thanks! I do hope your husband finds work soon.
Deletecreo que haces un trabajo precioso y que mucha gente estaria dispuesta a pagar por tener esas pequeñas maravillas , animate

Mari
Thank you Mari for your kind comment, I'm very nervous about selling.
DeleteI adore your tiny miniature crochetwork, Susan, I do think you should open an Etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteYour newest creations are so tiny, that is why it is so special!
Hugs, Ilona
Ilona, you are so kind! I never feel like my work is good enough to ask anyone to pay for it...
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan, of course, you really should sell :D!! Your crochet work is superb, small, lovely detailed and first class, I really mean it!
DeleteHave a nice weekend! Hugs, Ilona
I love pink, both items are on my wish list! Give it a try, you´ll never know - it might be a huge success.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mirel, you're very kind!
DeleteI think you should open an etsy shop! Your work is beautiful and I believe that many collectors would like to have it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your talent!
Hugs.
Oh Eliana, thank you. You are so kind.
DeleteYou should try it! :D You can put the shop on vacation at any time you wish and you can close the shop permanently if you find that you don't want to continue. I think you would do very well, your creations are darling and unique. Good luck in whatever you do!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stepping off your soap box and dropping in here Daphne ;) I really do appreciate your support!
Deletethe answer is Yes, I would buy your work, so you should open a shop
ReplyDeleteHugs
Marisa
Thank you Marisa, you are so kind!!
DeleteOh my goodness, Susan! There's no one doing what you're doing--so tiny and perfect! When you can make things that others cannot, that's a huge edge in selling things. If everyone already knows how to make it, they'll do it themselves. :-) xo Jennifer
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer, if only you knew how much your words mean to me....getting a bit choked up here... Thank you sweet friend.
DeleteYour beautiful tiny crochet work is sure to be snapped up. If opening an Etsy shop costs nothing you have to give it a try. I wish you luck and success.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Drora
Thank you Drora, you are such a kind and dear person!
DeleteHello Susan! The answer is "YES"!!! Your talent is a gift and not everyone who crochets is up to your caliber. Just Because it is easy for you and you have mastered it already, it has diminished its value in Your Eyes but Not in Ours! I have been wanting some miniature potholders for my Dolphin Street kitchen and I will be your first customer Susan, just say when! :D
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
Haha Elizabeth, if only you knew :) I sweat blood over some of my designs trying to achieve what is in my head but I love the tiny things that grow on the end of my hook so much it's all worth while in the end. Thank you so much for your lovely words, from one as talented as yourself, they are very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has left such kind messages of support, I'm very touched and very grateful and very humbled that you are all so kind.
ReplyDeleteMy confidence was shattered due to a comment heard at a miniatures show. One woman was undecided about buying something that I'd made, her companion told her not to buy it, they could make it themselves. Perhaps they could, I don't know. The only thins that did sell we're the toys so it seemed that everyone could make their own.
What I do know is that from then onward I decided I'd rather give things away, that was a lot more fun! However, now I'm not working a bit of pocket money to spend on treasures made by others would be wonderful!!
My problem will be pricing - miniature crochet takes longer to do than RL crochet. If anyone can help me with ideas for that, please email me, your help would be so much appreciated.
A final thank you and many hugs for your kindness and support.
Your work is amazing I do a little crochet but I could not do your fantastic work so I also think you should go ahead. I will be on the lookout for your shop :)
ReplyDeleteHugs Maria
Thanks Maria! Your comment has warmed my heart.
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan, I had the same happen at a show here, with potholders I crocheted as well..it made me so cross! Said she will get her mom-in-law to make some....for me, it inspired me to do what I really wanted to make...furniture. Your crochet is fantastic...a lesson I have learned...only make and sell the things you really like...otherwise it becomes a chore, there will always be someone who will love it..if you make what you love your passion shows in your work and will make other people want to buy. I wish you all the best and many sales and I know you will have many happy customers.
ReplyDeleteOh YES YES YES....I have admired your work for so long now and am guilty of asking you if you do patterns so would be overjoyed if you sold patterns too PLEASE!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, thanks for taking time to comment and being so positive!
DeleteYes, yes, yes! You've probably got the message now matie! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteRx
Haha Robin! With all those yeses I get the impression you're in favour :) Thanks mate!!
DeleteHi Elga! Yes I'm sure lots of miniaturists have had the same experience. One thing is sure, no-one could say that about your beautiful furniture!
ReplyDeleteI would, Susan!!! They are gorgeous....it's pretty easily setting up and Etsy shop and everyone you deal with is always just lovely - I'm sure it would be a huge success (and it's also a fantastic excuse to keep making things, which is why I do it - otherwise where would I put everything I want to keep making??)xxxx
ReplyDeleteAw, how nice of you Carolyn! Heheh, making room so I can add treasures made by other miniaturists sounds like a good idea :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Susan, I am sure there will be buyers, your work is fabulous, I am amazed at the tiny detail.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret, and guess where I would spend some of the proceeds?? ;)
ReplyDeleteDear Susan:
ReplyDeleteYour work is wonderful in details and so beautiful, that I`d say if you feel like having a shop, it should be worth trying.
I am a little slow in buing thins from e-bay, because the paying is sometimes difficult..
Congrats for your Idea, I am sure there will be buyers with the right cards for paying!
Hugs
KIkka
Hi Kikka :) thank you for your sweet comment! I think many people use PayPal now, it's easy and you don't need to give your card details.
DeleteYes, do open an Etsyshop =) Your work is amazing =)
ReplyDeleteHannah
Thanks Hannah! With so many positive comments I'll have to get working!
ReplyDeletesus - See? All the responses alone give you the answers!!! yes, yes, yes!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and the furries (and grumpy of course).
Hey Lidi, nice to see you ;) and thanks for the vote of confidence! Chance would be a fine thing my friend, all of a sudden my hook is booked up for a while ahead. The grand opening would fall a bit flat with nothing on the shop shelves but with all the wonderful encouragement I promise to work toward the big day!
DeleteDear Susan, I think you should definitely open an Etsy shop for your knitwork is really outstanding. Up till now it has been very generous of you to just give it away for a present. If I were you, I would try and find out what fellow-miniaturists tend to ask for their knitwork .It would help to define your own price,I think.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I have been so absent on Blogspot and I am afraid Real Life will keep pulling at me...but I will be present now and then :D
Dear Liduina, thank you so much for your lovely comment about my crochet work, I appreciate it very much! I hop real life allows you some time for your miniatures, it is always such a pleasure to see the creations from your talented hands.
ReplyDeleteJust too cute Susan!
ReplyDeletelove your colours I really love Shabby chic! I heard one can buy Chalk paint in Brisbane, I'm looking forward to getting some of that!
How are you sweet lady?
G'day Deni, great to hear from you! Shabby chic is so light and peaceful isn't it? I love it too. I found a recipe to make chalk paint, email me and I'll forward it.
ReplyDeleteI have an Etsy shop so I can tell you thatTry it! Why not?it's very easy to do and your work is really beautiful and with quality. Of course it is time comsuming but also give lots of satisfaction :) And as I say before your work is lovely and really beautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement Eva :) the worrying thing about selling is the high postage for small parcels from Australia. Well, I won't know until I try, so I'm working on a couple of things for a trial of etsy.
ReplyDeleteOlá !!! mulher abençoada....
ReplyDeleteque mimos lindos, fofos...amei
te seguindo,desejo ser aprovada
para retornar sempre neste espaço
encantador, criativo... que seu final de semana,
seja de muito sucessos e alegrias...
beijokas !!!
Ola Lady Elaine :) thank you for joining my blog. I can't find your blog :( If you have a blog, please let me know. Glad you enjoyed your visit here!!
DeleteYes, dear friend I do think you should open an Etsy shop. I have seen your work in person and it is exquisite. You don't have to put so many items on for sale that you find it a pressure, just as and when you feel you want to. But I know for sure that they will sell - you would have a customer right here for one.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Sandie
Thanks for the much appreciated vote of confidence Sandy. Unfortunately, between Real Life and orders for three christening sets, I've been unable to make anything to offer for sale in an etsy shop! I shall, like a duck, keep paddling hard and hope to follow through with this dream soon!
ReplyDeleteHallo Susan !
ReplyDeleteIch bin fasziniert von deiner Häkelei. Die Teekanne ist wunderschön. Deine Minis sind so liebevoll gefertigt.
Ich staune und schaue weiter.
Liebe Grüße
Skiddi
Danke, das du mich auf meinem blog besucht hast :)
Ich freue mich.
Thanks Skiddi, you made my day happy with your sweet comment :)
DeleteHello Susan, did you end up opening an etsy shop? If 'yes' may I have the details as I'm interested in getting a couple of your tea cosies.
ReplyDeleteCheers Yvonne
Sorry Yvonne, it hasn't been possible.
ReplyDeleteHello again,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. Your work is wonderful and so sweet.
Cheers Yvonne
