Technical Challenges

Dear blog friends,
it's been far too long since I posted!
Due to the eccentricities of Windows 8.1
updating on our new computer, I'm not able
to get photos from my camera to my blog.
Ipad takes poor photos but what is a blog post
without a photo?
Imagine the frustration when I couldn't
work out how to get Ipad photos into
a post???  Hair pulling and tooth grinding!
A breakthrough today :)
Who knew there was an app for blogging?
Bear with me, we'll eventually work out
problems and get back to decent photos.
In the meantime, an attempt at posting!

Hilda Grace and James George have been
feeling the squeeze in their sons family home
so, when the opportunity arose for them to
have their own tiny home right next door
they joyfully began making plans.  Not wanting to
spend all their savings at their time of life
they made the hard learned wartime slogan
"Make Do and Mend" their motto for their
new venture.  First an old iron bed was given
to them by an acquaintance who might
not recognise it now it has a new lease of life
with a coat of paint.  Next, great joy from Hilda
when an antique dressing chest, almost an exact
twin of my own Real Life one that Hilda loved,
was discovered in a shed at the bottom of the
garden of their new home.  No problem for a
handy chap like James George to give it a
clean up with some sandpaper and a couple of
coats of varnish to bring it back to respectability.
A wardrobe and a couple more items made their
new bedroom so comfortable they wanted to move
in!  There's plenty more for them to do yet with
decorating but they wanted to show what they've
achieved.  A chihuahua or two appear to have made
themselves at home too.  Please forgive the appalling photos,
they'll be replaced asap.

  1. I can see why HG and JG love their new home Susan, it looks so cosy and will be even more so with all those chihuahuas to share with, hehe. I wish I had a garden shed where I could find furniture treasures! Good luck working out the app.

  2. G'day Margaret! So nice of you to visit Hilda and James :) I'm utterly exhausted from wrestling with the new app!! Happy to put some words together but disappointed that only part of the photos shows, the right hand side doesn't show. A good cup of tea and a nice lie down on Hildas bed would be perfect about now ;)

  3. The bed is lovely and I like the little accordion, but especially cute are the little Chihuahuas.

    1. Hullo Sharee! Heehee, a home is not a home without a chihuahua or two...dozen ;) hilda is musical, she plays the piano and the church organ as well but her grandchildren love her to bring her accordion to family occasions for sing-a-longs!

  5. Hello Susan! So glad to see you up and at'em again! :D
Your bedroom is so comfortable looking that I would like to come and stay for a spell. But I would hate to mess up that Beautiful bed spread which hangs so perfectly and looks to be light as a feather.
The luggage on top of the wardrobe is a great touch and the little accordion in the rocker conjures up a cute image in my head.
The make do and mend, is what is so popular today and I know it had it's roots from WW2, and old habits do die hard. Every piece tells a story and, I would love to hear more of it, if only those chihuahuas would be less noisy! :D

    1. G'day sweet Elizabeth! Thank you for stopping by, it's lovely to see you! Step right in and sit down on the edge of the bed and let Hilda tell you all her exciting news about her new abode! She and James have settled in to their new way of life in a new country and are loving having their lively family around. After the war years with rationing still strict they are hardly able to believe Australia is so comfortable! They're glad they made the decision to emmigrate now all the kerfuffle is over ;)

    2. Oh, Elizabeth, Hilda said to tell you a well trained chihuahua would never be so rude as to bark at visitors! :))

    3. They must be very well trained indeed! :D

    4. The dollhouse chihuahuas are very well behaved indeed, Elizabeth ;) The real life chihuahuas a little more exuberant but they never yap, they love guests and if you sit down you will find yourself covered in dogs all wanting to love you!

    1. Hullo Drora, thanks for visiting the grandparents new home, unfinished as it is. They are slowly making it comfortable and feeling much more settled as they get to know their new country. Hilda plays her accordion for the grandchildren to sing along, that makes for rollicking happy times that the children will remember always.
