Minipig Play Date - or - A Fun School Holiday Project

No.3 grandson is passionate about his real life guinea pigs
Percy and Jasper
so,
 naturally ;)
he found some Minipigs in his
Christmas Stocking.
His comment was
"Wouldn't it be neat if we did a
Miniature Guinea Pig Play Date Scene,
so we did.
Of course, in real life, boy guinea pigs
mostly prefer to have only one male friend
but Minipigs get on splendidly in larger groups ;)

While I worked on the play pen
Grandson made the Pigloo

Piggies love new experiences.
Percy and Jasper did some excited zoomies
and then settled down to the serious business of
filling their tummies.
Cheryl and Kevin both being elderly chaps
thought the pigloo looked comfy
and strolled over to take up residence
and as for young Alf,
after some youthful popcorning,
(which is another thing excited piggies enjoy)
he did what he always does,
he teased everyone.
That's him trying to fit 3 piggies inside a two piggie pigloo.

We used mat board 3 3/4" square for the base,
1/8" square wood for posts and coffee stirrers for rails,
some sort of fuzzy fabric for the grass,
mat board, light card and 1/8" dowel for the pigloo
and raffia as miniature oaten hay.

    2. Hi Susan

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately I haven't found any meerkats yet. I did ask Katie but she wasn't taking on any more commissions. To be honest it has kind of fallen by the wayside due to work, kids etc.

Please let me know what you are thinking?

  9. Hi Sandra, thanks for visiting. Glad you liked our minipigs :) No, I didn't needlefelt the piggies, a lovely lady by the name of Katie made them. You can find her etsy shop by clicking on the highlighted words in the previous post about minipigs. I hope you find your meerkats and would love to see what you create for them!

  11. This is such a cute little project and the fact that it was your grandson's idea to do the "Play date scene" makes it even More special! I think that your tucking the Mini Guineas, into his Christmas stocking was The Perfect Gift from his Gran! :D

    1. Sharing the joy of miniatures with children is so much fun don't you think Elizabeth? Seeing their faces light up when their ideas turn into reality is rewarding, especially when creating mementos of their real life passions. There's more detail to be added here for the piggies comfort but we got the basics done.

  15. Hi Pam, thanks for visiting :) The minipigs love visitors, specially if they bring carrots! Zen crochet is simple rhythmic crochet that lets mind and body relax, no difficult stitches or patterns needing concentration.
